It’s Star Wars!… Kind of? The first of many planned Disney-led Star Wars films to deviate from the main Skywalker storyline, this movie dramatizes the opening crawl of A New Hope, and seeks to answer the question of why it was so easy for Luke Skywalker to blow up the Death Star in the first place. A question that the writers and producers apparently felt should be explained in another two hour Star Wars movie about the Death Star. But for any fan of the Star Wars: Battlefront video games, seeing the Rebels storm an Imperial-held beach is undeniably exciting. Competently made by Godzilla’s Gareth Edwards, it’s a decent war movie that builds to an explosive climax. And it’s also Star Wars. What more could we ask for?
